Shelton Vineyards presents second release in NC State Hallowed Places Collection

DOBSON, NC (April 29, 2022) — Shelton Vineyards is proud to present the second release in the North Carolina State University Hallowed Places Collection – Court of North Carolina. This North Carolina red wine blend is created in partnership with NC State. The collection is an annual series of limited-edition premium red and white North Carolina wines that highlight the school’s iconic locations.

This effort, led by the university’s Office of Strategic Brand Management with cross-campus collaboration from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Design, Poole College of Management, along with other internal and external constituents, supports the university’s land-grant mission and will contribute to NC State student need-based, merit, study abroad and athletic scholarships. The initiative also provides current NC State students with opportunities to obtain real-world experience. Students from the College of Design submitted their designs and copy for the wine labels and overall branding. Following engagement with several interested vineyards across the state of NC and a tasting panel led by Whit Winslow, executive director of the North Carolina Wine and Grape Council, Shelton Vineyards was selected as the first NC winery partner for the program.

Shelton Vineyards’ winemaker Ethan Brown created the latest NC red blend using 100% estate-grown grapes – Tannat and Malbec – to produce a balanced, versatile red wine with a full-bodied palate.

“We are honored to be selected as the initial partner for this series of wines with NC State University. It's a unique North Carolinian partnership and such an exciting project supporting our state's agricultural community. Giving back to our community has always been at the core of our family's values and we are thrilled that a portion of the proceeds goes to furthering the education of others through scholarships.” -Shelton Vineyards' Co-President Mandy Shelton Houser

Court of North Carolina will be available for purchase directly from the vineyard’s website and in its tasting room beginning Sunday, May 1. There will be a limited number of bottles available for purchase, and a portion of all sales will support student scholarships at NC State.
