Charlie & Ed Shelton
Charles M. Shelton, a native of Mt. Airy, N.C. resides in Dobson with his wife Sandy. They have two children, Mandy Shelton Houser (Mrs. Todd Houser) of Charlotte and Charles M. Shelton, Jr. (Chip) of Charlotte.
Charlie Shelton attended Surry County Schools and is a graduate of Franklin High School class of 1953.
Ed Shelton, a native of Mount Airy, N.C. resides in Dobson with his wife, Dotti. They have three children, Jennifer Egues (Mrs. Michael Egues) of Charlotte, Lydia Surles (Mrs. Mark Surles), of Charlotte, and Winni Shelton of Atlanta, GA.
Ed Shelton attended Surry County Schools and is a graduate of Mount Airy High School in 1958. He also attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk.
Charlie and Ed have worked together in construction and real estate development for the majority of their working careers. The last company they founded was Shelco, Inc. a general construction company which they sold to a group of employees in 2004. They also founded and own The Shelton Companies, a private investment firm based in Charlotte. Other companies founded by the Shelton’s include Fortis Homes, King Sash & Door Company, and Carolinas’ Distribution Services.
Charlie and Ed were also responsible for petitioning the federal government for American Viticultural Area recognition for North Carolina’s first AVA, The Yadkin Valley that was approved in 2003. Through their hard work and dedication to their state and community they have helped to put North Carolina back on the map as one of the top wine producing states in the nation.
Cindy McBride lives just down the road in Mount Airy, NC. She graduated from Appalachian State University and The Kenan-Flagler Young Executives Institute at Chapel Hill. Cindy’s career has focused mainly in Finance and Accounting working in the hospitality arena for over 20 years. She began working at Shelton Vineyards in 2008.
Cindy feels that the key to success is surrounding yourself with successful people, listening closely, and being appreciative of what others can teach you.
In her free time Cindy loves to travel, enjoys walking, bike riding and spending time with her family. She is married to Ramey and has one son, Trey.
Ethan has been in the Yadkin Valley wine industry his entire
life starting in his family’s winery and tasting room when it was built. He
later became their official winemaker when he was 19 years old and has moved on
to making wine in North Carolina ever since. He obtained an associate’s degree
in viticulture and enology from Surry Community College and a bachelor’s degree
in chemistry/fermentation science from Appalachian State University. In
addition to his passion for enology, Ethan enjoys brewing science and has been
has been a commercial head brewer.
Miguel and his staff of vineyard workers are responsible for the planting, maintenance, and upkeep of our vineyard and winery grounds. Miguel, originally from Mexico, is now a naturalized citizen of the U.S. He started his career in agriculture with the Monroe Tree Farm in Monroe, Oregon in the early 1990’s growing and pruning Christmas Trees. In 1994 he joined the vineyard crew at Benton Lane Vineyards also in Monroe and, in short order, became a key component of their vineyard staff. Joining Shelton Vineyards in 1998, he is one of our first employees and has been involved with each and every phase of vineyard development.
Special Events Coordinator / Wine Club Social Director
A native of Dobson, North Carolina, Danielle grew up in a tight knit family that focused on small town values which have held strong throughout her life. Her family instilled the principal that hard work, determination and self-sacrifice will always be rewarded in the end. Danielle used this basis during the early part of her life with success in primary school and to further her education, after high school, by obtaining an Associates Degree in Science. After completing her degree Danielle spent time working in the medical and financial fields before receiving the opportunity to unite her passion and fascination of wine with her career by taking a full time position with Shelton Vineyards in the fall of 2014.
Danielle still embraces her core values; bringing a great work ethic, outgoing personality and a passion for excellent customer service to her job daily. These positive attributes make her the perfect candidate to plan and coordinate your next event whether it's a wedding, coporate retreat, or weekend getaway.
When not at work Danielle enjoys traveling, collecting handmade art and spending time with family and friends.
CHEF / General Manager
Pastry Chef Frances joined the restaurant staff at Harvest Grill in 2011. After choosing to make a career change later in life, she enrolled in the culinary program at Wilkes Community College in the fall of 2010 to pursue a degree in Baking & Pastry Arts. Considering herself a lifetime learner, she has since expanded her knowledge to all areas of the restaurant under the guidance of Chef Paul. She possesses a background in teaching and operations management which support her role as part of the management team at the restaurant.
Her creative drive and meticulous nature contribute to developing an array of desserts, breads and pastries that enhance the dining experience for our guests.

Our friendly and knowledgeable retail staff eagerly awaits your arrival. They will guide you through our wine making process offering tours and tastings daily. The staff consists of local retired school teachers and business professionals, many of whom have been with us since opening. We welcome you to come and enjoy!!
